Dear As It Happens,

Years ago you did a segment about a burlesque dancer who shook her bits to your theme music, and to this day I can't hear your show's opening track without imagining a nearly naked woman dancing. I want to thank you for that!

Is she still doing this? You should replay that interview and do a followup! If you take me up on this idea, any way you can drop me a recording of it? I can't always catch your show, and we don't get the whole thing in the US regardless (why is that?).

I always get a bit sad when it's time for you to "Say goodbye to our American listeners," but at least I get to think of a nearly naked woman as you go away!

Thanks,

Christopher L. Jorgensen

p.s. Mary Lou Finlay and Barbara Budd are the bomb!

My reaction:

This is a completely true story. Sometimes mental pictures just won’t go away.

I’m not sure if they even got this letter, since you can’t trust the Canadian post office! Well, and the fact that I found out you;re not supposed to use actual stamps when sending things to other countries.

But I got a response from the Pope and the Queen, and I did the same thing with them, so I imagine my letter made it. I think it went unanswered because Canadians just don’t like Americans. Or they’re lazy. Or something.

I don’t think I was too much of a jackass on this one. Maybe they read it on air and I never heard it, since I only catch this show when I am driving alone at night.
