Dear Cracker Barrel

Sent: April 11, 2008

Dear Cracker Barrel,

You need a restaurant in Ames. I am tired of driving to Des Moines. If your food wasn't so good I wouldn't. I love your biscuits. My girlfriend loves your apple butter. We both think the turkey sausage is super yummy.

Thanks for making such good food. Please open a restaurant in Ames.

Oh, and if you feel like it, you can send us something. That would be great!

Thanks,

Christopher L. Jorgensen

Dear Christopher,

Thank you for contacting up here at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. We appreciate you sharing your suggestion for a store location in your area.

We anticipate building 25 new stores per year for the next several years. Although we don’t have immediate plans to build in your neck of the woods, I have forwarded your comments to our Real Estate Department for review and consideration.

We look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Sincerely,

(signed)

My reaction:

The hand signed letter rules the roost. They could have addressed my compliment on their food. A simple, “We love it too!” would have made me happy. A coupon or some simple nicknack (pencil, pen, notepad, stickers, magnets, etc.) would have satisfied my request for “something.” When I first started writing these letters I figured I’d be inundated with crap. Seems times are tight. Only three companies have sent me anything so far.
