Dear Tesco
Sent: May 8, 2008Dear Tesco,
My girlfriend lived in Scotland for like 5 years, and about the only thing she ever talks about with nostalgia, from her time abroad, is your stores. She thinks they're all that and a bag of chips (I hear you call them crisps over there).
Anyway, I was wondering if you have any plans on opening full blown Tesco stores near Ames, Iowa (that's in the USA) any time soon.
Thanks,
Christopher L. Jorgensen

My reaction:
My original letter went to:
Tesco PLC
New Tesco House
Delamare Road
Cheshunt
Hertfordshire
England EN8 9SL
But I got a reply, so use whichever you like when writing.
I wouldn’t call this a flawless letter, since someone needs to learn a bit about how crappy fully justified text looks, and it is a bit of a form letter (don’t worry, I’ve already forwarded it onto five of my friends, thus not breaking the chain), but it addresses my questions, is signed, and that closing is so cool I am so totally stealing it. Not a lot more you could ask for, well, other than that store in Ames I was asking for.
I know, I know, I wasn’t mean or stupid in my letter to them, or in this reaction, and I know that’s why you return to this site every day, but honestly, my girlfriend does like this company, and their letter didn’t give me anything to work with as far as cracking jokes, other than they spell neighbor funny (those silly Brits).
I promise. I’ll have a mean one next week.
