Dear Mr. Thorne,
I would like to sponsor your poor black boy by sending you "paper money of any denomination in an envelope," but unfortunately, I am not wealthy enough to do so. In fact, it cost me about a buck to send you this letter, so I am requesting you compensate me fully for this! Please send me $1 USD. If you do so I promise I won't sleep on your couch if I ever visit Australia.
I must insist on American currency however. Ever since Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple it just hasn't been as easy to get currency converted.
I await your prompt remittance.

David decided to cheat. I didn’t get a real letter, but he sent me the $1 I asked for, so I will let him get away with it. I just got this email:
Dear Mr Jorgensen,
I am sending you this electronic mail on the internet.
Thank you for your letter. Apologies for the belated reply. Although I have just transfered one dollar in US currency to your account, you are still welcome to sleep on my couch.Due to the monetary exchange rate, this transfer cost me eight hundred and thirty Australian dollars so it will be a bleak Christmas for my son this year. Do not concern yourself however, as he is quite a crap child and does not deserve anything nice.

I’m giving Mr. Thorne a link, even if he didn’t write back replied in email only. His website is worth a look (just click the middle finger). Thanks to @jazrusso for letting me know David is on twitter.
Also, the “black boy” explained. David is going to hell for that one, and I guess now I’ll be joining him there.
