Dear PM Gordon Brown

Dear PM Gordon Brown,

I don't know if you follow politics on this side of the pond, but recently there's been this hoopla over here about allegations of President-elect Barack Hussein Obama holding dual citizenship. Some idiots are claiming he's a dual national and has British citizenship because his father was a British subject. As you may already know, our Constitution requires our Presidents to be a US citizen (sorry, you're out of the running. Ha ha!).

The idea of Barack Obama being anything other than a 100% loyal American is just plain poppycock! So I thought it best if I went right to the source and asked if you could look into it and come out and say it isn't true! Well, unless it is true (that would be embarrassing).

I am going to ask you straight up, is President-elect Barack Hussein Obama also secretly a subject of Her Majesty's? I promise I'll let people over here know what you say. I'm hoping he's not just 50% loyal American, but will brace myself for the worst.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen

p.s. any way I could get an autographed photo for my girlfriend? Just make it out to "[Redacted]," and send it to the above address. Thanks!

My reaction:

I wrote this letter because some idiots were questioning Obama’s US citizenship. Many new sources covered this question, but none seem to take the obvious step and try to look it up overseas or to ask questions of anyone other than Obama. I figured, go to the source! If I had known this would be an issue I would have made sure I brought it up when I sent my letter to the Queen.

This is a perfect example of why it is often better not to write at all than to do it poorly. If there’s one thing you are going to do correctly in a letter make sure you get the person’s name right. I realize that postal mail doesn’t have fancy options like cut & paste, but proofreading is still an option.

And what are they hiding? By ignoring my questions I can only conclude, yes, Obama is indeed a British citizen. Great, once Barack is the President we’ll all have to start speaking whatever language they speak over in England! I don’t know about you, but I’m getting too old to go learning new tricks.

I woke up this morning and made this video and uploaded it to that fancy youtube place. I hope you like it. Mostly I did it for all you illiterate people.

Oh, and if you’re interested in having a jackassletters guest post on your site drop me a message.
