Dear KFC
Sent: April 10, 2008Dear KFC,

I am glad you don't make cheeseburgers. I don't think you would be very good at it. I don't eat red meat so I really shouldn't care, but I am glad all the same.
When I was a kid your restaurants were called Kentucky Fried Chicken. Aren't you afraid that someday people won't know what KFC stands for? Why didn't you just change your name to something like, "Good Chicken?"
Thanks,
Christopher L. Jorgensen

Thank you for contacting KFC regarding our name change.
KFC changed its name from Kentucky Fried Chicken” to “KFC”, in 1991. In the early ‘90’s, our menu expanded to include non-fried chicken. As such, our name changed accordingly to “KFC.”
However, in April of 2005, KFC opened a new vision store in Louisville, Kentucky, where the words Kentucky Fried Chicken are proudly displayed on both the inside and outside. This new Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant is part of a plan to open another 50 restaurants this year corporate and franchisee), to see how to best serve our many different customer bases.
We thank you for your interest in KFC and hope this information is helpful.
Sincerely,
KFC Guest Satisfaction Department

My reaction:
Now this is what I am talking about! A nice letter addressing my concern. It answers my question, is on decent letterhead, it’s polite, just a taste of marketing...about the only thing that could have made me happier would be a coupon or something. They do lose minor points over the fact it lacks individuality. I guess since my letter was to KFC, getting an unsigned letter back from KFC Guest Satisfaction Department should be expected, but a signature over “Deborah McDonald, VP KFC Guest Satisfaction Department” would have made this letter a near perfect reply.
Oh, FYI, I made up the name Deborah McDonald. I would still dig some coupons.
