Expenses
I've been wanting to make an area on this site, just a little sidebar item, where I keep track of the ongoing expenses I've incurred minus the real* value of items received. This way I can keep track how much this hobby is costing me. I'm making a quick post here just to get down some of what I've spent. I may have already forgotten some things.Expenses:
$41.00 in "forever" stamps.
$19 URL registration.
$9 in envelopes.
$5 setup fee.
$5 to Barack Obama (campaign contribution).
$2 for dedicated IP ($1 a month).
$1 to the Pope (for impure thoughts).
$1 to John McCain (campaign contribution).
$1 to Hillary Clinton (campaign contribution).
$1 to Warren Buffett (bribe).
$1 to Kembrew McCleod (Freedom of Expression™ license).
Total: $86.00
Coupons and Other Items of Value:
$12 Apple pen (think this is what it cost me to buy one nearly like this one).
$6 in Target coupons.
$3 Hefty Trash Bags coupons.
$2.89 Philadelphia Cream Cheese coupon.
$2 in Mars coupons.
$1 Vice President Cheney photo.
$0.58 Pope photo (just guessing).
Total: $27.57
Bottom Line:
-$58.43*I am only counting an item as having value if I am able to use it, sell it, or actually want to keep it.
I can think of other, more expensive hobbies, that aren’t nearly as fun. And all it would take to catch back up is one place to send me a premium item. Seriously, I still have a lot of letters out there. I still have some stamps. These accounts aren’t 100% accurate, since I started with a pile of stamps (and I’m not counting these), and other factors. But this should be close enough to get started.
